I WANT TO ENRICH MY EXISTING VEGETABLE GARDEN BEFORE PLANTING. SHOULD I USE COMPOST AND HOW DOES IT BECOME NUTRIENT RICH?

Compost is a decomposed organic material that provides nutrients that will be used by the plants and also improves the soil structure by retaining water in sandy soils and aerating heavy soil to reduce the chances of “root rot”. The nutrients in compost release slowly over time for continuous benefits. The main components of compost are brown waste (leaves, twigs etc.) and green waste (grass clippings). Water is added to the process and the natural microbes go to work breaking down the materials over time. Balboni’s offers a rich grass and leaf compost product, for pick up or delivery. Apply 3”- 4” on top of your existing vegetable or flower garden and till it in, to enrich your garden!
